For teaching me the beauty of simplicity, for conveying to me how understanding can be transmitted across cultures, across landscapes, religions, divisions in time and history.

All that I have ever wanted in this life, is to thrive in this simple act of creation. Of forging an image, of delving into stories, of looking into things that exist the veneer of everyday life. Shookran, Atayek and family, for so openly and willingly sharing your lives with us. For that, I am touched.

I am ever the more enamoured with the Arabic language, letters that have brought me peace and stability even during those wild years when I was all over the place. Words that have opened possibilities, the world of imagination, words that will go on and on….
